Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions about our and services.
What does a residential inspection include?
A typical home inspection includes a detailed review of the structure, roof, electrical system, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, drainage, and ventilation. We provide a full report with photos, deficiencies, and repair recommendations.
How long does an inspection take?
Most residential inspections take 2–3 hours depending on the size and condition of the property. Commercial inspections can take longer based on complexity and square footage.
Can I attend the inspection?
Yes! We encourage homeowners and buyers to attend the inspection. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the property.
What is radon, and why should I test for it?
Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can build up indoors and is linked to lung cancer. Certified radon testing helps ensure your family isn’t at risk.
Do you provide mold assessments?
Yes. We offer visual mold assessments and will recommend certified lab testing if necessary. Mold can affect indoor air quality and property value.
Is lead testing really necessary?
If your home or building was constructed before 1978, it’s wise to test for lead in paint, water, and soil—especially if children or pregnant women are present. We’re fully licensed to perform lead testing.
How soon do I get my inspection report?
In most cases, reports are delivered within 24 hours of the inspection. They’re detailed, visual, and easy to understand.
Do you inspect commercial properties?
Yes. With over 30 years of commercial construction experience, we inspect offices, medical facilities, retail buildings, and more—up to 20,000 sq ft.
What areas do you serve?
We serve clients across the greater Northern Illinois region with offices in McHenry, Arlington Heights, and West Dundee. All appointments are by appointment only.
